No dedicated "scanner" - Save US$15,000+
Digitising physical fabrics has never been easier. With just a digital camera, hot-shoe flash, and Bandicoot’s starter package, you can create high-quality, PBR texture maps in minutes—no expensive equipment or complex setup needed.
Trusted by customers around the world
Fabric digitisation is usually associated with having to buy expensive dedicated equipment and undergoing advanced training. Not anymore.
All you need is a regular DSLR camera and a flash. No expensive, dedicated hardware required—just equipment you already have or can easily purchase.
Whether you're digitising large, intricate fabric patterns or small samples, Bandicoot's flexible PRO Frames adapt to your needs, ensuring seamless capture for any material size.
Our cloud-based platform lets you digitise and upload your materials from anywhere, without being tied to a specific location or machine.
Position your fabric under the PRO Frame, capture nine images — one centre, and eight around the edges — using a regular DSLR camera with a hot-shoe flash.
Drag and drop your images into the Bandicoot platform. Our cloud-based system will automatically process the images into a full set of PBR texture maps.
Capture large fabric repeats effortlessly. Bandicoot's stitching technology allows you to digitise large patterns by capturing multiple overlapping scans and seamlessly stitching them together into one large texture map.
Bandicoot's processing automatically calibrates colour and seamlessly tiles your material, producing textures faithful to the original fabric, without the need for manual adjustments.

What camera do I need?
We generally recommend using a DSLR camera with no less than 24 megapixels, in order to achieve the base level of quality. A prime lens (50mm or 85mm) mounted to the camera and a hot-shoe flash (mounted on top of the camera) is also recommended.
It is possible to use a zoom-lens and built-in flash with most cameras, but it is not recommended.
Feel free to send us quick message to check if the equipment you have is suitable. We are also happy to recommend a complete camera kit, if you need to buy a new one. These normally start from US$ 1,500/kit in most countries.
How does the stitching process work?
Yes, it's easy to digitise your own fabrics by yourself with Bandicoot's solution. All you need is a Starter Package (above) and a DSLR camera + hot-shoe flash.
You can find more information about our self-service fabric digitisation solution here.
Are there any fixed monthly costs?
No, there are no fixed monthly costs.
You purchase credits (see below) that you use in the app.
What are Credits?
Credits are used to unlock your digital materials, after processing and review.
Ten Credits are used to unlock one material. Before unlocking, you will get a chance to review the final result in the app.
After unlocking a material, you will be able to download the texture maps. You can also share the material directly using a dedicated link, and you can embed a Shimmer View directly onto your website.
What is a PRO Frame?
The Bandicoot PRO Frame is positioned over the area of the fabric/material you would like to digitise, while capturing the required photos with your camera.
Here's an example image of how our A4-sized PRO Frame looks like.
The chart is used by our software to support the texture map generation process and to accurately calibrate colours. It's a critical part of the scanning process that allows us to generate accurate texture maps that are faithful to the physical fabric.
