Why do I need to purchase a Starter Package?
Each starter package includes everything you need to get started with Bandicoot's fabric digitisation solution. The packages has been tailored to the most common requirements our customers have when starting out.
You will need a Bandicoot PRO Frame to digitise your own fabrics using only your own digital camera and flash. The PRO Frames are produced by Bandicoot and each starter package includes one or more charts.
Shipping costs are included in the listed prices.
What camera equipment do you recommend?
We generally recommend using a DSLR camera with no less than 24 megapixels, in order to achieve the base level of quality. A prime lens (50mm or 85mm) mounted to the camera and a hot-shoe flash (mounted on top of the camera) is also recommended.
It is possible to use a zoom-lens and built-in flash with most cameras, but it is not recommended.
Feel free to send us quick message to check if the equipment you have is suitable. We are also happy to recommend a complete camera kit, if you need to buy a new one. These normally start from US$ 1,500/kit in most countries.
What is a PRO Frame?
The Bandicoot PRO Frame is positioned over the area of the fabric/material you would like to digitise, while capturing the required photos with your camera.
Here's an example image of how our medium-sized PRO Frame looks like.
The chart is used by our software to support the texture map generation process and to accurately calibrate colours. It's a critical part of the scanning process that allows us to generate accurate texture maps that are faithful to the physical fabric.
What are Credits?
Credits are used to unlock your digital materials, after processing and review.
Ten Credits are used to unlock one material. Before unlocking, you will get a chance to review the final result in the app.
After unlocking a material, you will be able to download the texture maps in .zip, .u3m, and .gltf file format. You can also share the material directly using a dedicated link, and you can embed a Shimmer View directly onto your website.
How do I add Credits after I run out?
You can easily top-up Credits to your account by purchasing discounted Credit Packages in the app.
Discounted Credits can be purchased for as little as US$ 0.49 / credit.
Are there any fixed monthly costs?
No, there are no fixed monthly costs.
Can you digitise my fabrics for me?
Yes, of course. You can send your fabrics directly to our Digitisation Hub, or to one of our many global Scanning Partners.
You can find more information about our Digitisation Services here.
Can I digitise my own fabrics?
Yes, it's easy to digitise your own fabrics by yourself with Bandicoot's solution. All you need is a Starter Package (above) and a DSLR camera + hot-shoe flash.
You can find more information about our self-service fabric digitisation solution here.
Can I purchase more PRO Frames later on in different sizes?
Yes, Individual PRO Frames are available for purchase to customers who have already bought a Starter Package.
Additional PRO Frames and Credits can also be added to your purchase of a Starter Package.
How do I capture fabric physics?
Fabric physics data are unfortunately still not standardised into one universally accepted format.
Bandicoot will provide you with accurate, high-quality texture maps that works with all popular 3D design tools, and you will need to follow the recommended physics data capture method specified by the 3D software provider you are using.
E.g. CLO3D, Browzwear, Optitex, Style3D etc. all require users to utilise their own fabric physics capture method.
